I agree with OregonAngelwings about Madame Tussauds; that it is a waste of time, with or without the queues. We got back from London a week ago. The ONE thing I wish we hadn't done, was the Madame Tussuad experience! We waited in line 3 hours! Then it was so crowded that you could hardly move, or breathe! It was a miserable experience, and even if we wanted to see a particular wax person, we couldn't because of the crowds. The London Eye might be a bit slow for your son (it takes about 1/2 hour to go around the one time) and is perhaps the most fun for those who know London well and can identify what they see. I like the London Aquarium, but whether your child will do so really depends upon the child. They do have a petting pool and, if you stroke them genty, the rays will keep coming back for more attention, which IMO, is pretty good, but it isn't really much different from a good aquarium in any large city.Your timed entrance tickets at Madame Tussauds London mean you can have guaranteed 40 minute entrance if you wish on your way up the red carpet. One other note about Madam Tussuads. I stuck it out, as I was really interested in seeing Henry VIII and his wives. My Husband said when he went, they were all there. Well, only Henry VII and Mary Queen of Scots, and Queen Elizabeth 1 were there. No of the other wives of Henry VIII were there. I didn't see any of the other historical figures from the time frame I was interested in. I would have loved to have seen Marie Antoinette. I think they are being traded for the celebrity sort, which were wildly popular. Those were being surrounded, and hung on ,hugged and kissed. I do have to smile though...my Daughter said "I wonder how they would act if they saw the real thing!" THEN she spotted the figure of Daniel Craig, and I thought I was going to have to revive her! I almost heard this THUD on the floor! Oh well, to each their own. Give me Marie Antoinette and Anne Boleyn.I am assuming that you are taking your son to the Tower of London, which will appeal to the love of gore usually present in even the nicest ten year old boy. The Beefeaters free tours are full of wonderful stories that will keep him on the tips of his toes. Allow 1/2 a day, skip the crown jewels (long queues and just, in the end, jewellery) and you will leave the Tower with a young lover of history.
