. 8472 may have just been talking to the Borg with those threats. I saw little evidence that 8472 was a direct threat to any other species save the Borg only. But Kess formed it as if 8472 was talking directly to her with the threats. Under that. The first was Species 8472, a smart and ruthless alien race from fluidic space, a sub-universe of our own. Their Bio-Ships -- living mechanisms of enormous complexity -- were fast, powerful and nearly indestructible
Concept artist Steve Burg was selected to design the non-humanoid alien species that first appeared in the Star Trek: Voyager episode Scorpion and marked a significant departure from any race that had been seen on the show thus far. This Species 8472 would be the first fully computer-generated species to appear on Star Trek.. Although the technology was then still far from perfect. This fanatical devotion to absolute xenophobia put Species 8472 in direct conflict with the Federation and due to their supreme belief that all other life outside their own was inferior they were virtually impossible to reason with, making a peaceful solution to the conflict extremely remote, especially as the species had access to unfathomably powerful bio-weapons capable of destroying entire planets. Species 6961 - Katarian Species 8472 - Fluidic Space. Species 8472 is regarded by the Borg as the ultimate form of biological evolution, they are a space faring, telepathic, extremely xenophobic, non-humanoid species originating from an extradimensional realm named Fluidic Space Species 8472 This article relies on references to primary sources or sources affiliated with the subject , rather than references from independent authors and third-party publications. Yesassuming timelines were not an issue! Species 8472, is really an unknown life form. It's neither carbon-based or silicone-based. It can survive in deep space. Nearly nothing is known about the races culture due to the species xenophobic nature. In all their purges, they have been known to be aggressive and single minded in their aims to destroy all other forms of life and had marked both the Borg and Federation as enemies. Whether this remains as the case after Voyager's attempted negotiations with the race is unknown however considering their invasion of the Alpha Quadrant, it is possible that they believe all races are hostile and need to be destroyed.
11. Species 8472 bio-ship (Star Trek: Voyager, 1995-2001) Paramount . This ship gets an entry due to sheer originality, as it was an organic entity used by the Species 8472 Species 8472 If I remember correctly, the space that Species 8472 inhabits is filled with mass, which means that the Replcators could just eat their entire domain. Plus even if the Replicators can't consume Species 8472's technology, they can just destroy them Over the course of at least five months, Species 8472 attacked and swiftly defeated the Borg at least a dozen times. The area of space in which Species 8472 emerged, dubbed the Northwest Passage, was cleared of Borg activity. Two examples of their obvious combat superiority came shortly after Voyager's initial foray into Borg space. In one engagement, a single 8472 bio-ship annihilated an armada of fifteen vessels with ease. In a separate battle that occurred in Borg Matrix 010, Grid 19, the Borg lost 312 ships and 4,000,621 drones, and eight planets were destroyed. By early 2374, Borg tactical projections indicated that the war would be lost, and would be lost quickly. (VOY: "Scorpion, Part II") . Their evolution in fluidic space seems to have given them quite a few characteristics that differ from other races one of which is them capable of surviving in the vacuum of space without any form of protection; which suggests that they do not respire as humanoids do. They do not even need to sleep for rest and find the concept very 'alien'. Another fact of their evolution is their being capable of entering periods of hibernation when faced with injury in an attempt to heal themselves. Finally, their mastery of biology allows them to effectively poison themselves should they face capture. The Borg-Species 8472 War was a brief, but highly destructive conflict fought between forces of the Borg Collective and Species 8472.The war was fought over at least five months, ending in early 2374.. The war was triggered by Borg incursions into fluidic space - Species 8472's native realm. However, Species 8472's biological integrity proved highly resistant and up to being completely. Upon contact or introduction in-to a foreign system, Species 8472 cells begin growing, infecting and spreading across the foreign system, completely overwhelming their immune system response and devouring the foreign cells. Another aspect of their perfection - their cells also possess their own self-destruct response upon being attacked by anything which penetrates the cell.
Species 8472 is shown to be technologically superior to the Borg. The Borg are very powerful, but they have their limitations; this is part of the reason they strive for perfection, after all. As Species 8472 is seen by the Borg as the pinnacle of biological perfection, they attempt to assimilate the species, only to discover, much to their dismay, that the species is immune to assimilation A bioship carries only one crew member, who acts as the pilot. Its hull is resistant to conventional weaponry, including Borg assimilation, and also reflects sensor scans and tractor beams. The bioships are armed with energy beam weapons. Although the beam appears less coherent than either Starfleet or Borg weapons, it is able to inflict greater damage. Nine bioships can combine their firepower using an energy focusing ship, forming a planet killer. It is unknown whether the ships evolved naturally or if they were engineered to fit their task by Species 8472.
The first major sign of active Undine war efforts against the galactic powers was when they abducted the Vulcan ambassador Sokketh and replaced him with one of their own. This member of the species was stationed at Earth Spacedock and in 2409 Starfleet was tasked with escorting him to P'Jem where the world was discovered to be blockaded by a Klingon task force. It was only after battling these Klingons did the Starfleet forces learn that Sokketh was an Undine who fled whereupon one of their dreadnaughts entered into the system. The arrival of Starfleet reinforcements managed to destroy the Undine ship and defeat the threat posed by this infiltration. (STO mission: "Diplomatic Orders") Species 8472 can also survive the unprotected rigors of normal space, and appears not to need to breathe atmosphere, or even the organic fluid present in its own realm. Members of Species 8472 emit a biogenic field around their bodies which interferes with normal transporters and renders it partially invisible to sensors Seven of Nine transferred the specifications of the weapon to the Collective. The demonstration had the desired effect: alarmed at their new-found vulnerability, Species 8472 fell into full retreat on all fronts and began disappearing back into fluidic space. (VOY episode: "Scorpion, Part II") Due to the defeat of Species 8472, the Borg were able to continue on their path of assimilation, and some, such as Arturis of Species 116, blamed Voyager's intervention in the war and tried to take revenge for the events. All that is known of Species 8472's culture is that the species is highly xenophobic; they consider all other lifeforms to be genetically impure and inherently weak, and any alien entering fluidic space is seen as contaminating the realm. They believed the only way to purge a species of its weakness was to exterminate them, even if that meant eliminating all life on the planet. They also appear to have appreciation for art. Species 8472 has their own agenda and cannot be trusted. They will only do what benefits them. And they are way the hell over in the Delta Quadrant in any case. It may not happen quickly, but just like it takes centuries for a small sapling to grow into a mighty redwood tree, the Borg will overcome during the long haul However, when the Borg attempted to assimilate Species 8472, they found that the species was immune to assimilation – their immune system was so efficient that any foreign body cells encountered were immediately destroyed, including Borg nanoprobes. Moreover, since the Borg learned about different species solely by means of assimilation, they were unable to understand or adapt to Species 8472's technology. This organically-based technology was more than a match for Borg defenses. Species 8472's vessels were nearly impervious to all types of conventional weaponry, while their weapons were able to penetrate Borg shields with ease. In short order, they eliminated the invaders. (VOY episodes: "Scorpion", "Scorpion, Part II") The Borg arrived in Fluidic Space and began their usual tactics of trying to assimilate the native species into their own, naming them Species 8472 in the process - however the Borg faced an unexpected resistance as Species 8472 proved themselves superior to even the Borg and began to obliterate the would-be-invaders. The species 8472 were scanning the outer atmosphere while noticing the Orion vessel heading for the inner layer of the planet. There was some what confusion coming from the alien species 8472 on what they should be doing. However there are space stations known as terraspheres that were near mechanical in appearance. There have been known sights of active shipyards employed by the race however there have been mobile 'starbases' that produce the simpler bio-ships while gateways into fluidic space allow the entry of larger more powerful warships.
Species 8472 was even on the verge of winning the war against the Borg before Captain Janeway allied with the Borg. As the only sentient species native to fluidic space, the invasion by the Borg prompted Species 8472 to launch a genocidal retaliation against all the weak and impure species of the galaxy Species 8472 was the Borg designation for a non-humanoid species native to a dimension called fluidic space, accessible through quantum singularities. Their highly developed biology and organic technology rendered them tactically superior even to the Borg, who considered them the apex of biological evolution It has also been observed that Species 8472 cells possess incredible regenerative capabilities allowing the lifeform to recover, withstand end endure prolonged physical damage and stresses making them extremely resillient.

However, the sudden incursion of a hostile alien species in their biologically homogeneous space was intolerable to Species 8472. They saw their realm as having been contaminated by weak lifeforms, originating from a galaxy full of similarly impure species that were intent on invading their home. Therefore, Species 8472 determined that the only course of action to protect their genetic integrity and prevent further attacks was to "purge" this galaxy of weakness – that is, destroy all life in it. Hundreds of their vessels began pouring into the Delta Quadrant, from a string of quantum singularities concentrated in a region of Borg space dubbed the Northwest Passage by the crew of the Federation starship USS Voyager. Species 8472's purification campaign began with the extermination of the Borg Collective, as the Borg were the first species to contaminate their realm. They also feature in the backstory of Star Trek Online and were particularly involved in the Klingon storyline as being a motivating factor for their increased xenophobia. In the game, they are given the name of Undine similar to the novel name, but this is not a canon term for the race and they remain known as Species 8472 for this article. Species 8472 are discovered by the Borg in 2373 when they invade fluidic space (as revealed in the episode Scorpion, Part II) by opening a rift in space using a deflector dish. The Borg discover Species 8472 in the Delta Quadrant and try to assimilate its biotechnology which is more advanced than anything the Borg have seen
Species 8472 orginate from fluidic space. They declared war on the Borg and the entire Galaxy but failed due to altered Borg nanoprobes. They then plotted to exterminate all life in the galaxy but Captain Janeway gave them a different option to think about possibly winning some of their species over. By 2501 the a large group Species 8472 (Undine) approxiamtely 3 billion joined the federation. Due to species 8472 and their bioships sharing the same genetic structure it is also plausable to assume they are capable of communicating and thus controlling their bioships remotely when neccesary. Through a naturally generated biometric field they are rendered impervious to sensors and are also capable of passing through forcefields. It is unknown as to what purpose this may have served Species 8472 during their evolutionary process however they may release any hormonal, neural or cellular chemical in-to their systems at will. In once instance they released a cellular toxin in-to their bodies as a means to commit suicide at will, avoiding capture by enemy races - in combination with their advanced telekinesis this makes them the perfect infiltrators. Despite this, it is known that they are vulnerable to specific nanoprobe weapons which are designed to 'act' as part of the immune system before destroying the creature. This works equally well on both an individual member of the race and their starships due to the similarity in genetics between the two. Another stranded 8472 found itself in another extra-dimensional realm, on a Borg Cube trapped within the graveyard that circled the Forge, it and its spawn were killed as part of a deal made between the Borg and the USS Voyager's Hazard team. Species 8472 are a major antagonistic force within the popular long-running sci-fi franchise, Star Trek, first appearing in Star Trek Voyager they would become one of the greatest threats that Voyager ever encountered and were notable as one of the first major powers to outrank even the Borg in threat, to the point that Voyager had to aid the Borg against the new alien threat (despite the immense danger the Borg presented in themselves). By 2375 groups of 8472 had returned to the galaxy where they built space station habitats that would simulate conditions within the Alpha and Beta Quadrants in an attempt to gain intelligence on the race that had defeated them. The Borg would grow to consider Species 8472 as the closest thing to biological perfection but this did little to calm the fury of Species 8472, a deeply xenophobic species they pursued the Borg into main space and soon grew to view all other life as weak and thus deserving only of genocide. 11. This has several advantages for them, one of which is that the ships are capable of healing themselves after battle. Their organic form also is immune to tractor beam and transporter technology which prevents their capture. Their battleships emit a form of bio-pulses that are highly energetic and capable of dealing considerable damage to Borg cubes. They could combine and reroute these pulses into a frigate vessel which could generate such power that it was capable of cracking and destroying planets. This seems to require four to eight battleship vessels in addition to the frigate to accomplish this task which shows their power in regards to energy manipulation. Your premise is flawed. Species 8472 wants to destroy all life in our galaxy: KES: They say our galaxy is impure. Its proximity is a threat to their genetic integrity. KES: They said your galaxy will be purged

The energy focusing ship was an organic starship utilized by Species 8472. Larger than its Species 8472 bioship counterpart, the vessel was used to focus energy from other bioships to form an extremely powerful direct energy weapon. This is completely with the assistance of eight bioships that would form a ring around the energy-focusing ship and fire on it. The energy-focusing ship amplified. Species 8472, the violent, xenophobic beings indigenous to fluidic space, returned to their realm after forming an uneasy truce with Starfleet and the Voyager crew, who had turned over one of their nanoprobe warheads as a show of good faith. Despite their large size, they are capable of shape shifting and are capable of taking humanoid forms which they use to infiltrate other species when it became necessary after their war with the Borg. However, this seems to be a difficult process for them one which can fail as the members that do so have been known to experience a process known as 'reversion'. This essentially means that the race cannot maintain their form and reverts back to their natural appearance. Upon death, the body is also known to return to its natural form. (VOY episode: "In the Flesh") In mid-2373, the Borg Collective learned of the existence of a species whose physiology they believed represented the "apex of biological evolution." Designated Species 8472 by the Collective, this newly discovered race was the sole occupant of an extra-dimensional realm known as fluidic space. The Borg were determined to assimilate this species, which would bring them closer to their goal of perfection than any other species they had assimilated before. The Collective opened portals into fluidic space by creating special quantum singularities, using a modulated graviton beam. Borg vessels invaded fluidic space and attacked Species 8472 with the intent to forcibly draw the species into their fold, as they had done with thousands of other species before. Their origins lie in 'fluidic space' - a higher dimension which is apparently composed liquid rather than the empty space of our own universe The Species 8472 Bioship is an organic vessel with an advanced biological technology. These ships use an electrodynamic fluid that flows through vein-like conduits as a source of energy and can travel through fluidic space
Equally as perfect as their physical prowess is the genetic and cellular make-up of Species 8472. Their DNA is the most complex and densely coded ever encountered, possessing a triple helix formation. This is most likley the reason for the increadible immune response which Species 8472 possesses, capable of repelling chemical, biological and even technological threats - rendering them immune to assimilation. Species 8472 are discovered by the Borg in 2373 when the Borg invade fluidic space (as revealed in the episode Scorpion, Part II) by opening a rift in space using a deflector dish. The Borg discover Species 8472 in the Delta Quadrant and try to assimilate its biotechnology which is more advanced than anything the Borg have seen Not known to many, Species 8472, who was also known as the Undine, had been active in the late 24th century where they infiltrated the Gorn Hegemony government and subverted them in order to force them to fight in a drawn out conflict with the Klingon Empire. Later in 2395, the Undine attempted to kill Ja'rod of the House of Duras whereupon it would masquerade as him. Ja'rod whilst on shore leave was ambushed by three members of the shapeshifting species but was able to slay two of the infiltrators and capture the third for questioning onboard the IKS Kang. Through interrogation, Ja'rod learnt of the Undine's motivations to infiltrate the Klingon High Command and after the defeat of the Gorn, the Undine involvement in their government came to light to the Klingon High Council thus heightening the Klingon's xenophobia towards other races. Imgur Species 8472 live in a special section of the galaxy known as fluidic space. They were chilling peacefully there until the Borg tried to assimilate them, causing this new species to wage war on the Borg and kill billions of drones
However, when the Borg attempted to assimilate Species 8472, they found that the species was immune to assimilation – their immune system was so efficient that any foreign body cells encountered were immediately destroyed, including Borg nanoprobes. (VOY: "Scorpion", "Scorpion, Part II") Species 8472 is the one alien race that can't be assimilated by the Borg and the new Tech Upgrade, Resistant Hull, helps demonstrate that ability. Resistant Hull allows you to roll your full defense dice in spite of the presence of an opposing ship's Scan Token. Additionally, if a Borg Upgrade affects your ship Captain or one of your. Species 8472 was the Borg designation for a tripedal non-humanoid species whose actual name is unknown. 8472 was first encountered by the Federation starship USS Voyager in the Delta Quadrant in 2373. The species originates from a dimension called fluidic space, accessible by quantum singularities. (VOY: Scorpion, Scorpion, Part II) They are believed by the Borg to be the ultimate form of.
