So today I'm here to clear up a very common question that I hear every day. And that is whether or not you should rent a two-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive in Iceland. Just go with a buddy and make sure you're prepared. It's the summer right now and I've had a cold. We went early and four hours later of deliberating which is the best route we were victorious. The experience I had during my first hike to the waterfall had left a bitter taste in my mouth and I never felt emotionally ready to go on this hike again. We arrived there in the evening so my photos are a bit dark. volcanic ash settled upon the ground in the areas of Hengifoss and eventually turned into soil, which became rich in clay and iron. When the next volcanic eruption occurred, the iron reacted with the oxygen and formed the reddish layer seen in the rock. The forest covers an area of 740 hectares most of which is native birch Well, first off, Hengifoss is cool because to get there you have to walk at the top of this 80 metre high cliff, and you don't see it, which is good. And then you get to spend a couple hours, and finally you get to walk up the river. You never reach the falls. Distant views are good, though.
